Chaos Format predates the first ban list; however, it can use a ban list exclusive to the 2004 World Championship. The card pool includes up to Ancient Sanctuary.
The format revolves around summoning and abusing two of the most powerful cards printed in the game: Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End. In the version of the format without the Worlds ban list, a combination of Chaos Emperor Dragon followed by Yata-Garasu can instantly end the game in a Yata lock.
