The dust has settled, and against all odds, Burn is the last deck left standing. Shane has completed his explosive return to Goat Format with a win here today at FLC3!
In an unprecedented run, Shane didn't drop a single game in either of his best-of-5 matches on Day 2, showing off his unique Burn deck's supremacy in control matchups. He began his run with a 3-0-1 win over MMF, whose Goat Control deck was also featured earlier. That left him to face FLC mainstay Carl Waite and his signature Chaos Control deck in Grand Finals, where Shane pulled off what looked like an impossible upset and took the set 3-0 in commanding fashion, seizing the title of Champion over a diverse Top 4 of four different decks!
However, Shane was far from the only duelist to add to his legacy this weekend. Carl Waite continued his trend of top performances since his Top 8 at FLC1 and Top 4 at FLC2. MMF, usually known in the FLC circuit for their work on coverage and commentary, uncharacteristically piloted a "pure" Goat Control to an undefeated Swiss finish to add a cherry on top of their second consecutive DuelistGroundz Seasonal Playoff win just weeks earlier. Kuro-sama finally broke through to Day 2 after back-to-back bubble performances at the first two FLCs, and WorldGoneMaad's title run narrowly escaped his grasp once again, falling short at 6th place in Swiss despite his 4-1 record. Nonetheless, the biggest winner this weekend was undoubtedly Burn, not only because it won the event, but also because of all of the innovations showcased throughout the performances of Shane, Gipsyking, Skelter, Rydia, and more. Congratulations, once again, to Shane, our third Format Library Champion!
