Welcome to Day 2 of FLC3!
Player Profile: MMF Cashiola
1. What Yugioh community do you come from?
DuelistGroundz
2. What did you expect to find in today's the FLC metagame and why? Do you think your expectations were correct?
I expected more aggro and turbo combined than control variants. The biggest surprise in the Day 1 field was obviously all of the Burn decks, but other than those, I think I was mostly correct.
3. What deck did you play today and why?
I played pure Goat Control with a conversion sideboard. I didn't want people to hate on me forever for not playing pure Goat Control and I wanted to prove that I could still win without Chaos Sorcerer.
4. What was your defining card choice of the day (either main or side)? Explain its significance to your success.
Abyss Soldier is one of the most underrated legal cards right now. It has the Skilled Magician-like quality of being able to pay for itself with its body alone, and it's the only monster that forms a respectable combo with Premature Burial while still being below level 5.
5. What was the toughest match that you played in Day 1 and why?
Round 5 against Gipsyking, because I didn't technically win it LOL my opponent and I both did the math wrong for a Des Koala that should have killed me but didn't. After that, I won that game, and then game 2, and neither of us noticed our mistake until after we had both reported the results. Good thing my hardest round was after I was already 4-0 and locked for day 2!
6. How do you plan to prepare for the Top 4?
I beat Kuro in Swiss fairly convincingly -- I think my deck is basically his with more options and he's going to struggle with it if he makes it to top 2. Carl and Shane are both top-notch opponents that I have experience with from DGz, so I've got some solid gameplans to work with there. I'll probably watch a few videos of each of them before going to bed tonight.

1. What Yugioh community do you come from?
The Netherlands, we were competitively active around 2009. But since 2010 the community has been disbanded.
2. What did you expect to find in today's the FLC metagame and why? Do you think your expectations were correct?
I expected a lot of goat and chaos decks, because these decks see a lot of good competitive results. Also because FLC1 and 2 where full of them. I think my hunch was correct since the metagame today was mostly compromised of chaos/goat decks (around60%). During swiss i played 3 goat decks and 1 chaos turbo deck.
3. What deck did you play today and why?
I played an aggro deck today with 2 mained electric snakes because; (1) in my opinion the goat format is very versatile, but i mostly see goat and chaos decks. I wanted to show that there are also other viable decks that can be effectively played. (2) I was inspired by based lolis ago deck posted on the FL-website. Although the deck didn't top, the idea of raining 2 snakes struck me. to me the deck lacked ways to make big but safe plays, so i added the usual 3 solemn and some other stuff.
4. What was your defining card choice of the day (either main or side)? Explain its significance to your success.
Electric snake is, i think, the most random and defining card of the deck. I sided i out lots of times, but at the same time pressured the opponent into thinking twice about activating duo. I think what made the deck successful today is that i could often negate my opponents flip effects and secure position with book and solemn.
5. What was the toughest match that you played in Day 1 and why?
The toughest match today was vs. MMF. Although i got my strategy going, they surprised me big time by siding in Solemn, caught me off guard and pushed for game. Also people siding in decree (Carl Waite), which is an excellent counter to this deck.
6. How do you plan to prepare for the Top 4?
Having a good nights rest and having a thorough look at the opponents decklist.

1. What Yugioh community do you come from?
/dng/ and DGZ
2. What did you expect to find in today's the FLC metagame and why? Do you think your expectations were correct?
Thunder dragon chaos because I always see it. No
3. What deck did you play today and why?
Burn. It had a good matchup vs projected decks. [Back in last summer's season of DuelistGroundz warring,] Gojira told me that big shield gardna and skill drain were optimal in burn and I wanted to beat goats and chaos so I took that and built around it
4. What was your defining card choice of the day (either main or side)? Explain its significance to your success.
Fake Trap, because it synergises well with the win conditions of the deck and allows me to easily leverage my LP total to lock down the game
5. What was the toughest match that you played in Day 1 and why?
vs. gipsyking, opposing burn is a bad matchup for me, didn't prepare for it in the side
6. How do you plan to prepare for the Top 4?
