Day 2 Wrap-Up

7/17/2018

Congratulations to Iwasbanned0nDN, the newest Format Library Champion!
Picture
Spring DGz Playoff Champion Iwasbanned0nDN took his only loss in Swiss to Brandis72's pure Goat deck in round 3. In the other rounds, he mowed through three GoatRank top 10 players on his way to a 1st place finish with a final record of 4-1 and only 3 games lost. Iwb0DN's teammate InsiDS narrowly faltered in the first round of Day 2 to KL1993's innovative Aggro Burn deck, but in a neck-and-neck last game situation, Iwb0DN clutched out the match to avenge his teammate and claim his first Format Library Championship!

2018 is shaping up to be quite the year for Goat Format, as strategies such as Chaos Turbo, Reasoning/Gate, and Burn variants make unprecedented waves at the top tables. Control players continue to hang in there, with half of the Top 4 this weekend still on the deck. However, in such a cutthroat metagame, they are forced to adapt day-by-day as combos develop and decklists change. This weekend, they fell a little too far behind, and as a result, Chaos Turbo was able to claim its second FLC title, the first deck ever to do so. Congratulations once again to Iwasbanned0nDN and all of our Day 2 competitors, and be sure to check in next month for the next installment of the Format Library Championship series!
